The ‘Els Joncs’ Special Employment Centre (SEC) was founded in 1992 in help young people with intellectual disabilities integrate themselves in the workplace, especially those with personal characteristics that might make it difficult for them to access the ‘ordinary’ working world.
Services
Since 1995, we have been developing our services in Sarrià de Ter, and we currently offer the following:
Cleaning
- Residential parking spaces
- Warehouses
- Factories
- Squares and open spaces
Gardening
- Communal residential gardens
All these services are carried out by people with intellectual disabilities, who have proper contracts and are supervised. The teachers involved have specific training to help develop the skills and capabilities of students, based on personalised programmes created by the technical team at the Foundation. Our goal is to provide the support and resources necessary for students to carry out tasks successfully, thereby enhancing their self-esteem and self-confidence.
All the staff, teachers and students at the centre receive continuous training focused on the tasks they perform, as well as training in occupational hazards.
We also have external advisers who specialise in cleaning and gardening work, to ensure that our customers get satisfactory results and the utmost professionalism.
Currently, we have 4 work groups at the foundation, made up of 22 youngs and 4 teachers responsible for looking after their needs. We have specially adapted vans and state of the art cleaning equipment (sanders, sweepers, vacuum cleaners, blowers, etc.) and gardening tools (bush cutters, lawn mowers, etc.).
